Meet Our Founder, Colleen Murphy
Colleen Murphy is a musician, songwriter, author, mother of three sons, and a career teacher based in Denver, CO. With over 30 years of experience, Colleen has taught children and adults in a variety of arts, including visual arts, theatre, and music. Her work has been displayed at notable venues such as The Staenberg-Loup JCC, Globe Hall, Morning Star Preschool, Lulu's Country Kitchen, Parkhouse Tavern, JDJS Lower School Campus, and Planet Bluegrass Ranch.
As the lead of the 6-piece band Bottlerocket Hurricane, Colleen has performed at prestigious festivals like the Tico Time Bluegrass Festival, Snowygrass Festival, Grand Lake Folks Fest, and Bushyhead Festival. Her band has opened for national acts such as Molly Tuttle, Trampled by Turtles, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, and more. In 2016, Colleen founded the Colorado Estro-jam, a female-only bluegrass picking circle.
Colleen is also the proud mother of three sons and the owner of a talented dog named Levi, who has made appearances on stage with the band.
